Paris Aime l’Amour II : Paris City Hall’s 2012 Condom Design Competition

J’aime à Paris

Paris City Hall just announced the winners of its annual condom competition. This year’s design had to be simple enough to fit on a condom wrapper. This year’s grand winner, Sébastien Souryi wanted his design,  J’aime à Paris, to be a memorable mix of visual and verbal, applicable to Parisians and visitors alike. Look for it on the packaging of the 350,000 condoms that will be distributed by the City of Paris this year. The visually astute will quickly notice that the image forms a heart when turned upside down.

Second place went to Stéphane Mehl for his double entendre T’es cap ? design. T’es cap? - a rallying cry? 'Do you have a condom?' (capote, or cap), or challenge, ‘Are you capable?’ Mehl’s design is simple, yet purely linguistic.

Il paraît qu’il y a une fête ce soir

Finally, Mathilde Le Goff releases her inner party girl with her colorful Il paraît qu’il y a une fête ce soir ? (I hear there’s a party tonight ? ). She explains every occasion is a good one to have a condom on hand … especially when there’s a party.
